tenure:

Relationships with manager(s)

My relationship with my manager was slightly positive. She expected me to meet my targets (which I did not meet) but she was understanding and trusted that my efforts were genuine.

Promotion discussions

Oracle does a good job of outlining expectations, and communicating the metrics that they are expecting you to meet.

Training and career development

In my role at Oracle I would have liked to have access to more resources (one-on-one training, training materials) during my first few months in my role; I often felt isolated.

(Former) Core Technology Account Manager

Southwest Region

tenure:

Relationships with manager(s)

Decent overall. Managers were mostly men. 3 years spent there, had 4 managers and only 1 was a woman. Really enjoyed working for her. Definitely recall a few (annoying, but definitely harmless) remarks from two males in management- just about general presentation and messaging, "because you don't want to sound 'whiny' as a female."

Training and career development

Oracle offered plenty of training for people in all roles across different levels. The company is also good at showing you your options for career progression pretty early on and often.

Company culture

Employee retention and overall culture. People seemed to constantly be leaving. Oracle definitely seemed to encourage competition between peers and even different teams across the business. Made it hard to branch out and meet new people outside of your core team or the people you befriended during training/onboarding.

There is not enough diversity, especially in the sales department.

Relationships with manager(s)

Managers obviously vary between offices. However, because of the sheer number of turnover combined with quick promotion cycle, managers are often too quick to be on-boarded and seldom vetted on actual managerial competency. I had the benefit of working under a strong leadership team where I felt like I had a great knowledge pool to pull answers from. While I did feel support from a professional perspective, the organization would really have benefited from transparency on how decisions were made.

Company culture

Simply as a product of being the one of the oldest and largest tech companies in the world, Oracle does pretty well. It is pretty hard to take a fine-toothed comb approach to analyzing how the company stays so successful. But without a doubt this tech giant falls into the "too big to fail" category of house-hold company names.

Promotion discussions

Better inclusivity and clear transparency into managerial decisions. While Oracle employs an extremely high number of people across the world, little is known as to why the sales organization in particular has such a high departure rate every year. It seems that precious little is done to maintain employees in higher roles or even incentivize them to stay. However, on the flip-side, Oracle has made great strides to hire large pools of college graduates across the country. A very welcome mind-set given the ever ambiguous job prospects of today's students.
