Try to attend social events through the diversity groups or with your actual work group. That was a big thing because so much of my group travels, and not being in that campus bubble helped me get to know more people and build a network.

It was very quick. From the time I applied, they were trying to have interviews a week later. The turnaround was really quick, which was nice.

The interview process consisted of one super day where I met with three people. Two of the interviews were very informal and didn’t get into behavioral questions. The last one was more behavioral questions and a few technical questions.

Promotion discussions

My manager talked to me about early promotions, but I don’t think the company really likes to promote people early. It’s doubtful that I’ll get one this year because of COVID.

I’m a year out from promotion time, but I feel prepared for the discussion when the time comes. We have performance management leaders who act as your advocate in the year-end review process. I think mine has been very open about identifying experiences to focus on in the upcoming year to prepare for the process. She also helps identify gaps in my experiences so I can address them early.

It’s been accessible to get into leadership for the business resource groups. They send email blasts that encourage people to get involved, which has been good because I’m doing more than just attending events.

Company culture

While culture is highly dependent on your team, I’ve noticed high camaraderie between coworkers at KPMG. Eveyone is willing to help each other out and questions are welcome.

Consulting and not having office space makes it harder to be seen and events are highly dependent on your availability and location. I hope moving forward, my team is better about getting us together for establishing relationships.
