Relationships with manager(s)

Managers change based on what project you are working on, but managers are more of a thought partner on the work that needs to be done. I have talked with my managers on topics outside of work as well this combination makes the organization feel more flat. Managers tend to change pretty often compare to other corporate jobs, so the relationship builds faster and may not have the formal tie as long, but I would feel comfortable reaching out to all of my previous managers over the years for advice or just to catch up.

Training and career development

BCG is extremely good at training and developing Associates and Consultants. We are given meaningful work on each project and while at times difficult, the learning is truly substantive, especially when coupled with good coaching. The benefits are amazing and BCG does well in creating a close knit culture by investing in events and outings for the office.

Diversity programs

The company can improve on diversity in leadership; it is really important to have more profiles of my background in the office for mentor ship and handling more nuanced issues diverse candidates face. As a note, this is a bit more office specific. There is definitely emphasis on hiring, but there can be more emphasis on development that is also tailored to the diverse employees. Also, the experience is largely determined by the people we work with, and at times there is more unpredictability associated with certain managers. It would be helpful for the entire firm to continue improving on making the work sustainable by continuing to having conversations around it and putting more emphasis in these conversations as well.
